Dorothy Jane Dowd

May 16, 1958 - August 4, 2021

Memorial Gifts & Donations

Dorothy Jane Dowd was born at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital in Darby, Pennsylvania. She graduated from First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia and attended ODU. She retired from the Navy Exchange with more than 30 years of service. She is survived by her parents Margaret and Daniel Dowd, two brothers, Robert (Barbara) and Daniel, also the many friends she made over the years. She especially enjoyed the church ladies “NO HATS” luncheons and Saturday morning breakfast with Juanita and Carol and Jim Bean, she was very fond of all her cousins in Northern Virginia and especially proud of her Uncle Ron. She was also very fond of  Camille Morris, her Godson’s daughter. She will be greatly missed by many.

There will be a memorial service at a later date, I will let everyone know when that will occur.

She was smart, funny, talented and generous.

We will miss her until we meet again in Heaven

I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed talking with Dorothy. She may not have said a lot but she would listen and come in with a zinger!!! I read the following one day and held onto this. I hope it brings just a little comfort for you both.

“For prayer is hope put to the test.
And hope is faith in what is best.
Faith is power to do great things.
Thus, prayer is faith’s enabling wings.”
